A unified mechanism for any human disease is proposed in this book series based on abnormal membrane microdomain phenotypes. This volume classifies pathogenic membrane microdomain phenotypes into inflammatory and non-inflammatory membrane microdomain phenotypes. This basic concept is illustrated by describing the activity of CFTR in five different diseases and in a membrane microdomain phenotype induced by a drug.
